Time has taken its toll
12 April 2009 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Back in the eighties I used to watch erotic films like this which were broadcast by German satellite companies. They were obviously meant for German viewers but we in the UK could watch them because they were not encrypted. All this changed in the nineties when the Germans introduced some draconian censorship laws so that much of the stuff which was freely available suddenly disappeared.

This 2005 German DVD is one such film to have fallen victim to the censor's scissors, but more of that later. The various plot lines are about young people learning and experiencing life, love and sex. There is the couple who fumble about with a condom; in a laundrette a young man rescues a woman who is being hassled by a drunk; some groupies can't get enough of a pop star (a guest appearance by Terence Trent D'Arby). There are several of these vignettes, all told in a comedic manner which now seems dated.

As stated above, this DVD has suffered some cuts by the censor which can be observed by the way some scenes come to an abrupt stop. There is some coy nudity but most eroticism has been cut out. The cover states a run time of 90 minutes but in fact it is only 80 minutes. Apart from people who are fluent in German it is difficult to understand who would want to watch this. The sexiness has been chopped, the acting is dated and the audio is German only with no subtitles in other languages. In its present form, I can only give it 1 star.
