Julien Lenfant: We burglarize houses, yes, but respect them.
Featured review
We burglarize houses but respect them.
Xavier Deluc shines and steals the whole story with his performance as a young hoodlum on the run after him and his accomplice were nearly nailed by the police. Deluc escapes while his buddy is put under custody and interrogated. He finds shelter in a family living in the suburb, middle class suburbs, with plenty of houses. A strange family whose business is rather surprising; it's no more no less than a burglar family who "visits" empty houses of the neighborhood. You have the mother, father and the young daughter, all involved in robberies. Of course the young girl will fall for Deluc and the latest involved too in the "business". A gripping story, with no length at all and very interesting characters, though maybe not always put in realistic situations, such as the one when they burglarize the fancy house and suddenly three hoods arrive - nobody knows where from - and there is a big fight just in front of the burglarized house. After the fight, the burglars get back to their job and proceed the robbery.......It is adapted from a Jean Amila novel, evoking OAS in the early sixties, the secret armed organization fighting for French Algeria. Here, in the early eighties, it is not question of OAS anymore but another terrorist group, which Deluc belongs to. And that means that the members of this organization will interfere with his new family life....Dark tale, typical of the early eighties French film industry.
