Produced in 1982, the film was shelved by MGM after poor test screenings. It has had rare airings on European television, and later aired on American TV on January 2015 as part of Turner Classic Movies' TCM Underground (2006) series.

The movie was never widely released to the public, and legal hurdles kept MGM from releasing a DVD version. For most viewers saw this was in 2015 when the American cable channel TCM broadcast it as part of it's "TCM Underground" series.
