Jump to: Spoilers (2)
This was the third of three "Little House" telemovie sequels, and the last story to be filmed, but not the last to be broadcast (it debuted during February 1984, while the film made before it, Little House: Bless All the Dear Children (1984), aired ten months later, in December of that same year).

In the last scene, Laura is wearing the same dress she wore when she was 15 for her first teaching assignment, which would have been well over 5 years ago in the timeline of the series.

Spoilers

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

The town was really blown up at the end. Producer and star Michael Landon didn't want bulldozers to crush the buildings, so he wrote a story which gave the inhabitants the chance to destroy the town themselves. However, they didn't destroy the Ingalls' house; it was destroyed by a California wildfire in late 2003.
