The American 'Troma' DVD release is also missing the end of the "Night Caller" film clip. The shots of the old woman removing and eating the heart have been cut out.
When originally released theatrically in the UK, the BBFC made cuts to secure a 'X' rating. All cuts were waived in 1983 when the film was released on pre- certificate home video (Betamax, VHS, Video 2000) even though the back of the 1983 release states "Certificate 18". No further media releases were released in the UK until the 2003 DVD release which was pre-cut and finally released uncut on the 2014 UK Blu-ray.
The 2014 uncut UK Blu-Ray release contains some small scenes which had to be sourced from VHS sources and thus are of lower quality.
The UK DVD is an edited version, missing some of the violence from the "Night Caller" film-within-a-film sequence and the chainsaw murder at the end. The older UK video release on the Intervision label was uncut.
