This one has been compared to IL POSTO though we've moved up the social scale. The car owning graduate is drawn into the slacker golf club group at work. The office, with its telling exchange of glances and lunch time alliances is the most effective element of the film. Throw in some kinky sex and Antonioni-like alienation of the kind which will become less a feature of the style of Pupi Avarti whose STORIA di RAGAZZI e di RAGAZZE, BIX, Il CUORE ALTROVE and the rest will represent one of the most appealing blocks of work in current cinema.
A largely unfamiliar cast are backed by Avarti's usual collaborators. Ortellani's score is one of his best. IMPIEGATI is a presentable example of what will soon be an imposing filmography.
