Goofs

Derry, New Hampshire is spelled "Dairy" [sic] in the film. It is also spelled "Dairy" in John Irving's original novel which this movie was based on. Nonetheless, the town of Derry's high school is a private school just as in the film (i.e., the town pays tuition for its students to attend the private school). Its name is Pinkerton Academy and its colors are red and silver/white, vice the "Dairy High School" and blue and white of the film. See more »

anything getting such mixed reviews must be a marvel !!
17 August 2001 | by (amsterdam) – See all my reviews

As my father used to say: if all say something is great, you still may not like it. If all are booing, we must be missing something.. When a work gets reactions so diverse as Hotel New Hampshire, it is truly not to be missed ! Indeed, this film is elusive; funny and sad and hilarious and heart-wrenching. Humour without a tear is nothing. This film, after an even better book, is fantastic. Form an opinion. See this film !!
