Storyline

Captain Jeff MacDonald, a renowned and an ambitious surgeon at Fort Bragg army base, appears to be a happily married father of two. When the MP enter MacDonald's house in response to his desperate emergency call they find him injured and his wife and daughters murdered. He reports a gang of drugged 'hippies' raided the house and attacked the family. Trivia

Jeffrey MacDonald hoped/assumed that the novel 'Fatal Vision' would support his innocence. However, when the book was published, MacDonald realized that the author, Joe McGinniss, had concluded that he was, in fact, guilty. MacDonald sued McGinniss for fraud and the case was settled out of court. He and his supporters still blame the novel and resulting movie for tainting the public's image of MacDonald and the murders. Quotes

Freddy Kassab: [to Pruett and Kearns] Impossible. Jeff made two phone calls two minutes apart. In those two minutes he claims to have looked out the back door, then went to the bathroom to check his wounds, washed his hands, checked Colette to see if there was any signs of life, gave her mouth to mouth resuscitation, then checked the kids Kimmy and Kristy, then staggered into the kitchen again to wash his hands and make the second phone call. Impossible. Absolutely impossible! Nobody could perform all those ...

Awesome
12 September 2002 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Fact-based movie depicting the case of Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald, an Army Special Forces group surgeon accused of murdering his wife and daughters. This two-part heart-wrencher is incredibly gripping, and chock-full-of powerful acting. Karl Malden and Gary Cole deliver such incredible performances, it is no wonder Malden was nominated for an Emmy. Very sad and moving, but clearly worthy of watching. I give it 8.5 out of 10 stars.
