Storyline

During the great Cybertronian War, the Autobots and the Decepticons crash landed on Earth. Millions of years later, geological activity revives the warring factions - the Decepticons want to strip Earth of its vast energy resources, and the Autobots seek to protect the inhabitants of Earth from that fate. And so an endless battle begins in a crucial race to find an energy source for their homeworld Cybertron. Written by Michael Silva <silvamd@cleo.bc.edu>

Trivia

In the Marvel coloring book 'Forest Rescue Mission', Sparkplug has a son named Butch. He can be considered as Spike and Buster's third brother, or as an early name for either of their characters. See more »

Goofs

In most episodes, the Decepticon symbol is drawn incorrectly. It has three "spikes" jutting out of its middle-upper section, when there should only be two. This is probably due to faulty animation models, and is thus a legitimate error. Only on a handful of occasions are the symbols drawn the right way. See more »

This is one of the most popular cartoons of the 80s. It was original and not follow the trend of Hanna-Barbera's copycat mysteries/adventure cartoons a decade earlier. Automobiles that become robot fighting machines, producers couldn't be more creative then that. It was all action which us kids grow into after watching Superfriends or Spiderman and the amazing friends. I remember collecting some of the action figures then giving them away after they became out-dated. Though still a classic and one of the best cartoons of that generation.
