Season 1, Episode 3: The Hot Grounder

When the wife of the commissioner is killed in car bomb that was planted in the commissioner's car, Hunter is assigned the case knowing well that he could get booted out. When Hunter arrives, he discovers a few anomalies like how his car was parked like he wanted his wife to move it and his attitude when they arrive. The chief intercedes on his behalf threatening to have Hunter booted if he keeps doing this. But Hunter nevertheless still perseveres and finds a secret the man wanted to keep quiet.

Season 1, Episode 4: A Long Way from L.A.

26 October 1984
Hunter and McCall are transporting a prisoner back to L.A. when they have to stop at a small town. They place their prisoner in the custody of the Sheriff. Later that evening after the waitress from the local café brings the prisoner his dinner she's attacked and at the same time the prisoner's cell is opened. He runs out and everyone assumes he attacked her. However Hunter and McCall think the Sheriff had something to do with it. When they try to question him, they learn the Sheriff is the step-son of the town's wealthiest man.

When a mobster is killed, Hunter who knew the man, checks it out. Everybody thinks that he was killed by a burglar. But they later learn that one of the man's sons who is wild playboy brought home a girl. When his father saw him, they had an argument then he was killed. Hunter finds the girl, but her account of what happened is a bit off. He thinks there's more going on.

Hunter and McCall apprehend Gavin, a murdering street punk. They later learn that he made a deal with the D.A. to implicate a mobster, Nate Demarest for four murders. Hunter knows if Gavin is back on the streets he will kill again. When Demarest tries to get Gavin, Hunter suggests limiting the number of people who knows his location and Gavin wants Hunter to be that person because he knows if anything happens to him Hunter will be under suspicion. It's while watching Gavin that McCall recalls she once investigated Demarest for killing a Fed but it went cold. Hunter asks her to reopen it cause it could give the D.A. Demarest without Gavin's testimony.

When a parole officer is killed, the prime suspect is one of his charges. While Hunter and McCall try to find him, another parole officer is also trying to find and is going to extreme measures to find him. When Hunter finds the man, he tells Hunter that his parole suspected that another parole officer is killing other parolees so his parole officer asked him to help. So he altered his file to make it appear he's a violent criminal. Hunter thinks he knows who the killer is.

Season 1, Episode 12: The Avenging Angel

18 January 1985
Hunter gets an anonymous tip involving a man who killed his wife. After investigating and arresting the man, he is tried but the key witness against him changes his testimony; suggesting that the defendant managed to indirectly sway the testimony of the witness. When Hunter gets proof, he arrests him but a bomb goes off killing the man and later someone runs over the witness. Hunter gets a call from someone claiming to be the one who sent him the tip, claiming to also have killed the two men. It seems obvious that this guy is fixated on Hunter, even idolizes him which is why he sent him the tip. While Hunter tries to find out who he is, the defense lawyer who defended the man comes onto him.

Some people are being killed and just before they are killed they get a phone call from someone who utters the word "guilty". Hunter and McCall investigate and learn that the people who were killed served on a jury wherein the defendant was found guilty. Hunter and McCall trace the man and bring him in but they are told he can't speak because he was stabbed in the throat while in prison. Season 3, Episode 1: Overnight Sensation

27 September 1986
When Hunter & McCall pursue a vehicle seen leaving the scene of a robbery, they give chase. Unfortunately, so does a local news van & reporter Raul Mercado. The robbers fire at them and one is subsequently killed by Hunter. When the van gets in the way Hunter arrests the reporter for interference, only to find himself an unwilling celebrity on the news and in the doghouse with Captain Devane. Hunter soon finds that Mercado is engaging in a vendetta against him, trying to get him fired, despite Mercado's characterization of his crusade as a 'public service'. When someone starts making attempts on Mercado's life, Mercado suspects Hunter. But when the bullets do not match Hunter's gun, he & McCall are asked to investigate. Things get uglier when a car-bomb kills Mercado, and the murderer may be closer than anyone thought...

Season 3, Episode 3: Crime of Passion

In this episode, Hunter & McCall are called to a high-rise to investigate the smothering death of a woman. Two immediate suspects are found; the woman's soon-to-be ex-husband, and her boyfriend, a movie director. When the boyfriend subsequently turns up dead, attention shifts to HIS wife. Hunter soon finds out that a limo driver employed by the director's wife falsely fingered the ex-husband - who McCall was having an affair with - and soon arrests him. The woman is arrested as well, and the motive soon becomes clear; the director had been molesting his wife's teenage daughter with her mother's approval, and the girl had told the woman who was murdered what was going on...

In Season 2 of Hunter, Dee Dee was savagely raped by a psychopathic diplomat named Raul Mariano. Raul was deported back to his home country and killed by Sgt. Hunter after trying to kill Hunter himself. Now, Carlos Mariano - Raul's brother - has come to L.A. to seek revenge against Hunter for Raul's death. Hunter, McCall & Captain Devane soon discover that they are again handicapped by the nonsense known as 'diplomatic immunity' and the arrogance of State Department officials and the Curuguayan Consul, Mariano's employer. Hunter is kidnapped by the psychopathic Mariano and two of his thugs, who turn out to be security officials from the embassy and who do not have diplomatic immunity. Can McCall & Capt. Devane get around the bureaucratic ineptitude and find Hunter before he falls prey to Carlos Mariano's demented plans?

A group of psychopathic neo-Nazis rob a gun store, leaving the shop owner and one of the robbers dead. As McCall is taken to surgery to have the bullet taken out of her spine, Hunter goes to meet Big Jack Hemmings, whom he suspects tried to have McCall murdered. Minutes after Hunter drives away from Hemmings' mansion, he is arrested by Beverly Hills Police on a murder charge! Hunter calls Capt. Devane after being booked, who calls Hunter's old nemesis, defense attorney Mike Snow, to represent Hunter. In a meeting with the A.D.A., it becomes apparent to Hunter that the Beverly Hills homicide officers are attempting to pin the homicide on Hunter any way they can, for political reasons. The D.A. decides not to charge Hunter yet, and Hunter soon discovers the real suspect is much closer to Hemmings than the Beverly Hills P.D. had thought - it is Hemmings' wife, who is planning to flee the country! Hunter must race against time to stop the real killer from getting out of the country while the Beverly Hills P.D. try to pin the crime on him.

Season 4, Episode 7: City of Passion: Part 2

14 November 1987
Hunter spends the night at McCall's house after she recieves a threatening phone call from the man known as "Bigfoot", who they were investigating for the rapes. Brad Navarro's wife kicks him out of the house and hits the LAPD with a massive and somewhat humorous lawsuit, claiming their marriage was failing due to Brad's "unusual appetite for sex" due to being paired up with attractive female partners. Hunter's investigation of a missing girl uncovers a local satanic cult, led by the very Judge McCall arrested, who is now accusing her of entrapment. The LAPD conduct a stakeout in an attempt to catch Bigfoot, but he outsmarts them and nearly claims Sgt. McCall as his next victim.

All the separate stories culminate in one exciting conclusion. McCall's fight to appeal her entrapment accusation uncovers corruption at the hands of the LAPD commander, who resigns amid the controversy. The teenage girl Hunter had been keeping tabs on is murdered by a member of Judge Unger's cult. The judge is arrested by Hunter. Kathy Navarro drops her lawsuit against the LAPD and she & Brad reconcile. Lloyd Fredericks, known as "Bigfoot", is arrested after he beats and nearly rapes Sgt. McCall. Mrs. Fredericks takes her own course of action against him.

A few years ago Hunter and 3 other cops busted some drug dealers. The surviving member of the gang claims that there 4 million dollars more than what was turned into evidence. So all four cops were investigated, while Hunter was cleared the other 3 were not, although they were not prosecuted, they were still black balled. It was speculated that because 4 million was missing that there was a fourth member. When one of the three cops was killed, Hunter is being investigated again. And the surviving gang member has just been released from prison. So there's speculation that he's getting back at them.
