This is probably the best, surely the funniest, and likely the most screwy of the myriad MAD MAX ripoffs that plagued us for years after the release of that piece of ---. Director Cirio Santiago's several post-apoc features (WHEELS OF FIRE is another good one), all feature identifiable comic book characters, cliche but engaging, just slightly over the top, and a great pastiche of muscle goons, buxom chix, freaky mutants and funny cars, all prowling the Argentinian desert looking for succour. For me, the highlight of this sandy fiasco are the race of water-seeking druids who prowl the desert, chirping "Water ! Water!", a goofy cross between the Seven Dwarfs and something that slithered out of (gulp!) STAR WARS. A cool electro-score makes this a latter-day exploi-classic. A drive-in classic from Roger Corman's New World Pictures.
