Trivia:
The film was originally going to be totally filmed in Los Angeles but the expenses to film there kept growing (city permits, mandatory police officers, fire marshals, location fees, parking, etc). The Utah Film Commission was trying to get Cannon Films to start producing films in their state and a representative promised no permits, location fees, or union deals as well as lower salaries for local crews. This is why the films production was moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.See more »
Goofs:
Continuity: In the scene where Cho's son Kane is walking the streets, he stops at a unknown building, at a short distance away from the entrance. The scene cuts to him inside the deserted building, hitting piles of broken wood with a stick he found. In a scene later on, you can see him walking into the same building entrance, only the building is not the same deserted building he walked into earlier, it is his father's Japanese doll shop.See more »
Quotes:
Cho Osaki:I have given up fighting. My sword is sealed forever. Here in America I will not follow the way of the ninja. No more.
Kane Osaki:Why not daddy?
Cho Osaki:Because the way killed your mother.

Silly and poorly scripted, but Sho Kosugi and his son Kane perform admirably and have a strong screen presence, 24 August 2002

Marginally entertaining lightweight ninja fluff about a bad ninja smuggling heroin into the states and a good ninja (Sho Kosugi) who has to stop him and avenge the death of his family. They also systematically use every ninja tool and trick in the book exactly once. Silly and poorly scripted, but Sho Kosugi and his son Kane perform admirably and have a strong screen presence. Their conviction alone raises the film from dreadful to tolerable.
