Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

When the Max Reebo Band plays in Jabba's palace, an alien girl seductivly dances in a see through outfit, nothing is visible though, but in the 2004 edition when she falls into the rancor pit you can see the outline of her nipples.

Princess Leia is forced to wear a metal bikini as Jabba's slave, which reveals lots of her breast and buttock cleavage including her bare legs.

Violence & Gore

A large space battle has spacecrafts being destroyed on both sides.

A land battle has several aliens and people shot and killed (no blood).

At least three or four people are shown falling into a sand creature's pit or the victim sliding into the monster's mouth. Some are shown being eaten onscreen by the creature.

Two people are shot in the arm and hand in great detail.

A lightsaber fight between two main characters ends with one's hand being dismembered. No blood.

Soldiers are attacked or killed by large machines' laser fires or are beaten and battered by Ewoks.

Luke is nearly electrocuted to death. He screams and begs for help from Vader.

Vader throws Palpatine down a shaft where he explodes at the bottom.

A large creature is released from its cage (very grotesque looking) and eats a pig guard, no blood, but its body is shown being eaten on-screen. Intense.

Vader's battered body is helplessly pulled across the ground to a ship. there, his helmet is removed. While this scene is touching, his head is very pale and scarred. May be very disturbing to some viewers.

An Ewok gets killed in an explosion.

Jabba the Hutt is strangled to death.

In a deleted scene, Vader is confronted by two stormtroopers who won't give him access to Palpatine's throne room, and therefore, he slashes them both with his lightsaber. No blood. Intense though.

Profanity

None

Jabba the Hutt smokes something.

Alcohol is implied in Jabba's Palace.

Luke is ejected into Jabba's monster pit and is confronted by a huge, dinosaur-sized monster (that will definitely scare little kids). A "pig guard" of Jabba's is picked up and eaten (with crunching sounds). The monster then chases and nearly catches Luke, but he finally kills the beast by slamming a metal gate on it.

Luke and his friends are led to the pit of a giant desert monster to be fed alive. Luke is the first to walk the plank to drop from a small craft, but with his friends in position to help him, he twists and uses the plank as a springboard to jump back and begin the battle against Jabba the Hutt's gang.

Emperor Palpatine looks very scary for some viewers and has a creepy voice.

Darth Vader's real face may frighten some--it is chalk white and scarred.

The scene where Luke is electrocuted by Palpatine's force lightning is VERY intense.
