After a couple of delays, New Line Cinema has kicked off production on the long-gestating sequel / remake of National Lampoon’s Vacation, which sees Ed Helms (The Hangover) taking on the lead role of the now-adult Rusty Grisworld. Ex Machina

A new photo is out of Alicia Vikander in the upcoming sci-fi feature "Ex Machina". "28 Days Later" and "Sunshine" writer Alex Garland scribe makes his directorial debut on the film which also stars Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson.

Isaac plays a billionaire programmer who picks a young employee (Gleeson) to help him test out an A.I.-driven, female robot (Vikander) on his estate.  No word on a release date as yet. [Source: The Playlist]

New Line Cinema’s Vacation franchise reboot hit a few bumps last year, as studio heads and the filmmakers on the project butted heads over whether the movie ought to be a more family-friendly PG-13 affair or a We’re the Millers-style adult comedy offering. We’ll have to wait and see which side won out, but for now production on the movie is underway – with Beverly D’Angelo and Chevy Chase even reprising their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the Vacation comedies of the 1980s and ’90s.

Leslie Mann is ready for a "Vacation."  The actress will play the adult version of Audrey Griswold in the latest entry in the long-running National Lampoon comedy franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The role previously was played by, among others, Dana Barron in 1983's "Vacation" and Juliette Lewis in 1989's "Christmas Vacation." As prevously revealed, Ed Helms ("The Hangover") will star as Audrey's grown-up brother, Rusty, with Christina Applegate playing his wife. Along with their offsprings, they embark on a cross-country road trip as disastrous as the one Audrey and Rusty took as kids in the original 1983 film. We reported yesterday that the role of Audrey Griswold was potentially heading into the hands of Leslie Mann (that still hasn’t been confirmed), and today we bring you the news that the remake/ sequel of the classic 1980s comedy Vacation, has started shooting.

Ed Helms leads the film’s cast as Rusty, who takes his wife and two children across country to visit the famous Walley World theme park. Christina Applegate plays his wife, with Charlie Day starring as Rusty’s pain-in-the-ass brother-in-law, while both Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelommreprise their roles as Clark and Ellen.

It was announced today that production on Vacation, which will see the return of the Griswold family following several National Lampoon's films featuring Chevy Chase as Griswold family patriarch, is now underway in Georgia. A press release sent out by New Line tells us the film will feature Ed Helms as a grown-up Rusty Griswold who surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons (Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins) with a cross-country trip back to America's "favorite family fun park," Walley World. As I'm sure fans of the original films remember, this is where the Vacation films kicked off back in 1983. The release announced both Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold. That long-rumored "Vacation" reboot is a rumor no more: The film has finally begun production in Georgia.

The flick stars Ed Helms as a grown-up Rusty Griswold, and Christina Applegate plays his wife, Debbie. According to the film's official plot synopsis, Rusty is "Following in his father's footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding," so he "surprises his wife ... and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America's 'favorite family fun park,' Walley World."

The actress will play Ed Helms's sister in John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein's reboot of the 1980s comedy series, reports The Wrap.

Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day will also feature in the movie.

The original Nation Lampoon films starred Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold - a man taking his family on a disastrous road trip.

Helms will play his now grown-up son Rusty, who attempts to recreate the holidays he remembers as a child with his own family.
