Trivia

The planning and logistics using the black panther, both on stage and on a location, required tremendous coordination between the director, the stunt-animal wrangler, and the art department. Just what could the panther perform! What the panther's wrangler could teach, and rehearse with the panther, to perform according to the writer's scripted proposal, was always a challenge. The "art department" became a key element in setting up the circus ring! The crew were constantly warned and cautioned about the unpredictable panther's temperament while being rehearsed and performing in front of camera. At times, filming was really a three ring circus! David Letterman's favorite TV show!
3 October 2000 | by (The Beach) – See all my reviews

This NBC TV show was David Letterman's personal favorite while working at that network back in 1983. He even paid tribute to it with a touching short film when it was cancelled. Way before its time, only nine episodes were made which makes this a terrific series to release on video. And check out the cast in the pilot! Melody Anderson, Ursula Andress, Glynn Turman! Wow! William Conrad ("Cannon") who was the announcer on the Bullwinkle show was also the announcer on "Manimal". Manimal...forgotten...but not dead.
