Very good historical account for this docudrama
12 December 2003 | by See all my reviews

This film gave an accurate depiction on how Ci Xi, who was commonly known as Empress Dowager, came to power during the Second Opium War. Her rise to power begun with the blood coup, which ensured her reign on China for more than half a century. This movie is also one of the first jointly made by Hong Kong and China after the Cultural Revolution.
