Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony: The 5 Best Performers Who Are One Away from an Egot

16 February 2012 7:27 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

An historic moment in award show culture occurred this week, so clasp your hands over your mouth and pay attention: Film producer Scott Rudin became only the 11th person to win the full Egot -- that is, the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. He collected his final piece, the Grammy, on Sunday for Best Musical Theater Album as a producer on The Book of Mormon. (He'd collected an Oscar for producing No Country for Old Men, Tonys for producing several huge plays, and an Emmy for the kiddy program He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin' in the '80s.)

You might not know that some of your favorite performers are just a single win away from joining Rudin's ranks. Let's see if we can help five of them.

Scott Rudin, Egot Winner: Mega Producer Has Won An Emmy, Grammy, Oscar And Tony

13 February 2012 10:18 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Congratulations Scott Rudin! The mega-producer can now count himself amongst the hallowed Egot group, after winning a Grammy award this past weekend for best musical theater album ("The Book of Mormon"). The EGOTs, an acronym that stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award, was popularized by Tracy Morgan's character on the sitcom "30 Rock." A running gag on the show is Tracy's goal to win every award on the list. As the New York Times blog The Carpetbagger points out, Rudin -- who joins an impressive, but short, list of current Egot winners -- has won an Emmy for the kids program "He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin'," an Oscar for "No Country for Old Men" and a Tony for "The History Boys" and "Doubt." With his award last night, it looks like it's time for Scott tobuy some new jewelry. [via Nyt/Carpetbagger] Egot Winners »
