Storyline

This documentary shows Jacques d'Amboise teaching school children in New York City to dance - both at school and at the National Dance Institute (of which Jacques d'Amboisewas the founder). The lessons culminate in "The Event of the Year", which is danced by the children - and which has been especially created and choreographed, for the occasion, by Jacques d'Amboise. Kevin Kline narrates the ballet. Written by David McAnally <D.McAnally@uq.net.au>

Trivia

For 31 years was the only film to ever win both an Oscar and an Emmy (it won three, in fact: two Primetime Emmys and a Daytime Emmy). It's practically impossible for a same film to win both awards because the Emmys are only given to TV productions while the Oscars are given to cinema productions. In 2015, Citizenfour (2014), another documentary, won a Primetime Emmy Award after winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. See more »
