Welcome back to Junkfood Cinema: now with 100% more! Time to shake off the cobwebs, crack the padlock on the pantry, and get back to ruining your weekends by filling your eye sockets with tasty schlock. Yes, I have been away for awhile, but I have returned with a renewed fervor to liquefy your brains whilst simultaneously broadening your silhouette. Each week I investigate every nook and cranny of my favorite turkeys while also lavishing it with a sweet, geeky dressing of praise. I will also pair each film with a deliciously terrible-for-you snack food in the hopes that you too can obtain the Adonis-like physique of Gene Shalit. In honor of October, I will be serving up the best of the bad horror movies all month long. First up is the threequel with no equal… Halloween III: Season of the Witch. It’s the story of a man investigating a company that makes Halloween masks which seem »

Get your ass to Rochester, New York this weekend. Fright-Rags and The Dryden Theatre are hosting two nights of double-features. On Friday, July 16, An Evening With Tom Atkins as the man hosts The Fog and Halloween III: Season of the Witch . On Saturday, July 17, An Evening With Fred Dekker : Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad . Two collectible posters have been created for both events, and you'll be able to get them first at the screenings. That's my favorite below. The Atkins poster can be found here along with artist details and how you might be lucky enough to snag one of these bad boys online. »
Ever since news broke of Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier reteaming to bring us Halloween 3D, we've been hoping and praying that the film gets made because we believe this duo have the chops to get the Halloween franchise back on the track that it needs to be on.
Unfortunately there's been a bit of turmoil along the way, but that hasn't stopped the legendary Tom Atkins from talking a bit about his character returning to the franchise to finally come face-to-face with The Shape.
During an interview with Fangoria regarding his latest film (which will also be for Farmer and Lussier) Drive Angry, in which he'll play Cap — the captain of the Oklahoma State Troopers, Atkins revealed the following about his role in the highly anticipated sequel: [He would be playing] "a shrink in a mental hospital that Laurie [Scout Taylor-Compton] is in with a bunch of other girls who have been up to no good. »

So last year I joined Twitter and desperately struggled to figure out a good use for it. Assuming most people following my account might come from the Film Junk podcast, I thought it might be an idea platform to keep track of what films I've been watching and what ratings I give them. My first post was March 9th, 2009 with David Cronenberg's The Brood (3.5/4) and since then I've managed to check out a good number of great films over the last year. (Jacques Tati's Play Time and Wim Wender's Paris, Texas are definitely two stand outs on this list.) Many of these are first time viewings, but a there are also a lot of movies I just felt the urge to revisit. So what do you think? Any favourites? Have a look for yourself after the jump! The Brood, (Cronenberg, 1979) 3.5/4 Operation Crossbow (Anderson, 1965) 3.5/4 Watchmen, (Snyder, 2009) 3/4 Pontypool, (McDonald, 2008) 4/4 Pinocchio, »

The fine fiends over at Dread Central got some awesome casting news tonight for Patrick Lussier's next 3D outing Drive Angry . Tom "Thrill Me" Atkins is the latest to join the cast, which already includes Nicolas Cage, William Fichtner, Amber Heard, David Morse, Billy Burke and Charlotte Ross. The genre vet whom we know and love from films such as Night Of The Creeps , John Carpenter's The Fog and Halloween III: Season Of The Witch was last seen in Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer's previous film My Bloody Valentine 3D , so this casting news comes as a welcome surprise. The 3D pic about a felon named who goes up against a group of vicious cult fanatics begins shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana next month. It hits theaters February 11, 2011. »
