Watch: Shaquille O’Neal Crushes Jimmy Fallon in Epic Lip Sync Battle

3 April 2017 9:33 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

What an epic Lip Sync Battle!

Shaquille O’Neal helped kick off Jimmy Fallon‘s weeklong taping of The Tonight Show in Orlando, Florida on Monday by going head-to-head with the late night host in the show’s wildly popular pretend-singing contest.

To start off the showdown, Fallon, 42, hyped up the crowd with House of Pain’s 1992 smash “Jump Around.” Meanwhile, the retired Hall of Fame basketball player, 45, channeled Bobby Brown for a rendition of the New Edition band member’s 1988 hit “My Prerogative,” with a little help from Pitbull, who was the night’s musical act.

Black History Month: Spotlight on Octavia Spencer

23 February 2017 11:40 AM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

by Steven Fenton

On February 26, 2012, Octavia Spencer won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her endearing performance as the feisty Minny Jackson in Tate Taylor’s The Help. With her win, Spencer joined an elite group, becoming just the sixth black actress to win an acting Oscar (and only the seventh overall, if you count Irene Cara’s Original Song win for Flashdance, since she also starred in the film). Prior to 2011, Spencer had worked steadily since the mid-90s, gaining a reputation as a warm and generous co-star and a beloved character actress. So her win in February 2012 felt like an authentic opportunity for the academy to recognize an industry favorite.

Spencer was an indomitable force in the 2011 awards season, snatching wins at the Critics Choice, SAG awards, Globe Globes, and BAFTA, and beating out a talented crop of women in sensational breakout performances, including: Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids »

Blu-ray Review – Dirty Dancing: 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition

30 January 2017 12:30 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Dirty Dancing, 1987.

Directed by Emile Ardolino.

Starring Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Jerry Orbach, Wayne Knight, Cynthia Rhodes, Kelly Bishop, Jack Weston, Jane Brucker, and Lonny Price.

Synopsis:

In the summer of 1963, teenager Baby Houseman goes on a family holiday and falls in love with a rebellious dance teacher.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and when you’re nostalgic about a film that celebrates nostalgia you know you’re a) overly sentimental and b) getting old. Yes, we’re at that stage now when those classic movies we loved growing up in the 1980s are getting anniversary editions and this year sees, amongst others, Dirty Dancing getting dusted down and re-packaged in a special 30th anniversary collector’s edition Blu-ray.

It is very doubtful that anybody reading this will need a plot rundown but just in case you’re totally oblivious to the charms of romantic musicals it goes like this: »

Great Job, Internet!: Read This: Notorious asshole Jon Peters thinks he’s the Trump of Hollywood

13 January 2017 2:30 PM, PST | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, rich asshole Jon Peters went into great detail about his wealth and relished in his reputation as shamelessly money-hungry. When asked about parallels drawn between him and Donald Trump, he proudly told Hollywood Reporter, “I am the Trump of Hollywood.”

His life has boggled those in Hollywood for years. From his humble beginnings as Barbra Streisand’s hairdresser to launching the Batman and Superman movie franchises, Peters is a true rags-to-riches story, albeit without an ounce of humility. He’s so influential that he was credited as being the inspiration behind the films Shampoo and American Gigolo, and he’s had a hand in everything from Caddyshack to Flashdance. The Hollywood Reporter profile on him is not only full of great quotes from Peters about his love for smoking pot, but it also includes descriptions like this that perfectly set the scene »

Christopher Nolan banned Jon Peters from Man Of Steel set

12 January 2017 12:17 PM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

David Crow Jan 13, 2017

Controversial producer Jon Peters suggests he made tens of millions on Man of Steel while Christopher Nolan banned him from the set.

Jon Peters has had one of the most infamous and oddly-inspiring rises to power in Hollywood history. Once a hair-dresser bad boy who was supposedly the inspiration for Warren Beatty’s Shampoo, Peters somehow found himself as Barbara Streisand’s lover/producer on the A Star Is Born remake, and then a well-regarded producer who, along with Peter Guber, presided over classic 1980s blockbusters like Batman, Flashdance, and An American Werewolf In London. He also was the first guy to attempt to 'reboot' Superman before that jargon existed in the 1990s… mind you, his idea was to have Nicolas Cage with flowing locks to star in it while fighting a giant spider, but you know… he was still first.

Paramount, Jerry Bruckheimer Developing Science-Fiction Movie ‘Origin’

3 January 2017 5:44 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Paramount Pictures is developing the science-fiction movie “Origin” with Jerry Bruckheimer producing and Joachim Ronning directing.

Ronning is in post-production on Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales,” which he co-directed with Espen Sandberg. Rønning will also write the script with his brother Andreas Rønning.

Paramount, which made a pre-emptive purchase of Ronning’s pitch, is keeping details of the plot under wraps. Bruckheimer, who has produced all five “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, will produce “Origin” through his Paramount-based Jerry Bruckheimer Films company.

Bruckheimer began his career at Paramount with Don Simpson during the 1980s with “Beverly Hills Cop,” “Top Gun” and “Flashdance” and then spent nearly two decades at Disney with “Armageddon,” “The Rock,” “Con Air,” “Crimson Tide,”  “National Treasure”  and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise with Johnny Depp. After a costly flop with Depp’s “The Lone Ranger,” Bruckeimer returned to Paramount »
