In this animated tale, a tiny village is destroyed by a surging glacier, which serves as the deadly domain for the evil Ice Lord, Nekron. The only survivor is a young warrior, Larn, who vows to avenge this act of destruction. The evil continues, however, as Nekron's palace of ice heads straight towards Fire Keep, the great fortress ruled by the good King Jarol. When Jarol's beautiful daughter, Teegra, is abducted by Nekron's sub-human ape-like creatures, Larn begins a daring search for her. What results is a tense battle between good and evil, surrounded by the mystical elements of the ancient past. Written by

The filmmakers had a real hard time finding an actress with the right voluptuous physique to play Teegra for the live action version of this film. See more »
After the attack of the water monster, Teegra stabs the last sub-human with a very pointy stick. As she stabs, we see the stick remains lodged in the chest of the sub-human. In the next shot, as she falls on her back recovering from the attack, the stick is back in her hand. See more »
Why have you brought me this?
This is your bride, my son. She will be mother to your sons.
How thoughtful, Mother. I need no bride, and no sons.
But you need heirs.
I need nothing!

Why this movie has all but disappeared into obscurity is an absolute crime. "Conan" is perhaps the only Sword and Sorcery movie better. The brutal violence, cool character designs, and good pacing, make this one of the best fantasies around. It is certainly the greatest animated movie aimed at a more adult audience that I have ever seen. This is not similar to Bakshi's usual frenetic style. It's quite a departure for Bakshi, and in my opinion his best work. I hope that this film gets the recognition it deserves.
