Very powerful Bachchan performance in a guest appearance. Bachchan is a forest officer who is sent to jail under a murder case of Sandal smuggler Amrish Puri. Due to shock, his wife Maadhavi & daughter commit suicide. After seven years when he returns from jail, he finds that Amrish Puri is still alive. He trails him & finally kills him in the High Court in front of judges, lawyers delivering the sensational dialog "Aapka Kanoon Kisi Aadmi Ko Ek Hi Zulm Ke Liye Do Baar Saza Nahin De Sakta" On the other side, Rajnikant and Hema Malini are brother and sister, whose parents have been murdered & sister has been raped by dangerous & powerful goons of the city Pran, Prem Chopra & Danny Denzongpa. But they have tactfully got out of the situation. Rajnikant takes the law in his hands and is looking for revenge. Hema becomes a police officer to track down the murderers and tries a lot to resist his brother from taking the law in his hand, but fails. Rajnikant gets Amitabh as a friend & with his help he kills the three murderers.
Although Amitabh Bachchan appeared as a guest artist, the movie was promoted in his name only. The hard-hitting dialogs, controversial scenes with nice songs make the movie popular. The song, Yeh Andha Kanoon Hai is a hit. Rajnikant with his various styles is different. Hema Mailni, as a Police Inspector is good. But, Amitabh Bachchan presents himself as the favorite and scene stealer.
