The principle characters are the medical staff of a major hospital's trauma center, a specialized emergency section that treats people who have suffered extremely life threatening injuries and require extensive and intricate surgery. The show also covers the adventures of the two main ambulance aids who often forced to take unorthodox and dangerous actions in order to deliver the injured to the hospital in time to save their lives.
