‘Maniac Cop’ to Launch Nicolas Winding Refn First-Look Deal

Vendian Entertainment has partnered with Wild Bunch and Nicolas Winding Refn’s Space Rocket on a multi-year first look deal. The horror thriller “Maniac Cop” will be the first project produced and financed.

The deal was announced Monday at the Cannes Film Festival with Wild Bunch repping international rights. The partnership will have a first option to provide financing for Space Rocket’s feature films for an international audience by Refn and other directors.

Maniac Cop,” the first in a trilogy, is written by Ed Brubaker (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) and directed by John Hyams (“Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning”). It follows innocent people who are brutally murdered on the streets of Los Angeles by a uniformed police officer. As the death toll rises and Lapd attempts a cover up, one determined female cop sets out to reveal the truth.
