This movie was made during an era when even pornographers had to have skills. The costumes are fantastic, the filming is very good, the acting is decent, overall a very well made movie.
As for the story, (and I'll try not to spoil it), it goes like this: The Sultan catches his wife plotting against him and from then on he never trusts another woman. He begins sleeping with women from his harem for one night only, then kills them. One particularly smart woman tries to save her life by telling him stories, but telling him he must wait until the next day to hear the conclusion to the story. And thus, she continues this way, telling stories to him every night, and keeping the ending of each story for the following day. Each story is acted out quite well. The actors and actresses are all very beautiful, something the cosmetic and surgery freaks of today will never catch onto.
This film was nominated for many different erotic awards. Quite a ground-breaker I suppose.
