COMEDY FOR DUMMIES, 18 May 1999
1/10
Author: jan onderwater from Amsterdam, The Netherlands

One of those terrible German farces that are just too silly and insufferable. Why does everybody have to shout all the time?; do they really think that is funny? Why must everybody behave as if they were loonies; did Franz Marischka not know that farce only works when the characters behave more or less "normal"? Is pulling faces all the time funny? And why are the boy and girl always those terribly dummies whose only aim in life seems to get engaged?

Why not a decent script? This farce is a poor (very poor) man's variation of the classic Russian tale "The 12 Chairs" by Ilf & Petrow - without recognition of that fact, of course. Here 5 pillows have to be found, but it is never clear where these come from. But why do I bother?

The title has 2 translations in English: A difficult Case and A big Blunder; I go for the latter.
