The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Rated-PG family movie (as stated by the director in the commentary track), but there are a few scenes of female breast nudity. This movie was made in 1982 and the PG-13 rating did not come out until 1984. It would probably receive a PG-13 rating by today's standards, even though the nudity is non-sexual and harmless.

Scantily clad women and men throughout.

A village woman's top is torn off by a barbarian and her breasts are very clearly shown as she runs in the direction of the camera.

Two women are bathing under a waterfall topless. Both the women's breasts are seen very clearly. One of them sees her personal items being stolen and runs after the thief with her breasts exposed very closely to the camera as she runs in the direction of the camera.

Violence & Gore

Frequent\Moderate but wholly bloodless action and fantasy violence throughout. Not a film really suitable for persons under 13 years of age in spite of PG rating.

Much swordplay and stick fighting throughout with impact of weapons on bodies. Brutal but non graphic fighting.

Aftermath of battles are shown which lingers on dead bodies including children and animals. Some scenes of bodies impaled on stakes are depicted in the background.

A man is attacked by a bear in which you see him pulled thorough the bushes and then thrown out.

Metallic weapons are seen hurtled through the air which impact.

A child is held up in the air and thrown into flames as a sacfrifice. Same to another child but is rescued just in time. Most disturbing scene in film.

Scenes of soldiers set on fire which can linger.

Scenes of people pierced with arrows from crossbows.

2 priests are seen to hang themselves from the ceiling with chains.

A man is turned into a monster by having a green luminescent slug inserted into his ear.

A witches ring with an eye is gouged.

Bat creatures are seen devouring their victims and turning them into goop and bones.

Profanity

Scenes of witches performing rituals may scare younger children.

A witch is seen to transfer the baby from a pregnant woman into an ox using supernatural powers and is then seen in an attempt to kill the baby once she has removed it from the animals belly. You see the distended belly of the pregnant woman shrink and the belly of the ox bulge as the transference takes place.

The main villan is quite intense and fearsome.

The bat creatures may frighten some younger viewers.

The sacrifice scenes are intense.
