A ton of awesome comic book characters have been introduced to us over the years, but not all of these characters were created for the comics. There are a handful of them that were created for other media before they found their way into the comic universes of Marvel and DC. Here is a list of ten comic characters that you may or may not know originated outside of the comics.

Harley Quinn[Television] Batman: The Animated Series

That's right folks, everyone's favorite sadistic Joker sidekick wasn't introduced into Batman's Rogues Gallery until Batman: The Animated Series. She was an instant classic! The first comic she appeared in was The Batman Adventures #12 in September of 1993. Over the years she has had her own series and also teamed up with Poison Ivy and Catwoman several times to beat down on Batman. She is my favorite female villain of all time.

Powers and Abilities

Spider-Man has the proportionate strength, speed, agility, and reflexes of a spider. He can climb walls/most surfaces and possesses a “spider sense” that instinctively warns him of immediate danger. He also possesses superhuman endurance and healing abilities. At times, he’s also been capable of naturally generating adhesive webbing and extend a poisoned “stinger” from his wrists. Spider-Man is also a genius, with a knack for science and invention, and over the years has a developed a kinetic, chaotic fighting style that takes advantage of his superhuman abilities. He is also an accomplished photographer.

Powers and Abilities

Norman possess superhuman strength, stamina, and healing abilities as a result of the Goblin serum, a chemical compound of his own design. He also possesses genius-level intelligence and business/leadership acumen, as well as an aptitude for chemical and electrical engineering.

Recently, Aim scientists gave Norman powers similar to that of the Super-Adaptoid, enabling him to absorb the super-human abilities of anyone he physically touches.

Gadgets and Accessories

As the Green Goblin, Norman routinely uses explosive and gaseous pumpkin bombs of his own design, and rides a flying “Goblin Glider” with an assortment of offensive capabilities.

Captain America History 101 – Redux

Powers and Abilities

Loki is an accomplished sorcerer, capable of using magic to shapeshift, teleport, fly, generate energy blasts, ensorcell individuals, and more. Additionally, like most Asgardians, Loki possesses super-strength, durability, and longevity.
