South by Southwest, once known as an intimate stomping ground for tiny films, has turned into the Comic-Con of the spring. Starting today, thousands will descend in Austin for the splashy red-carpet movie and TV premieres, as well as concerts (hello, Solange), panels and keynotes speeches ranging from Joe Biden to Lee Daniels. In keeping up with the political climate, there’s even a Planned Parenthood rally, called “Never Going Back,” co-hosted by Tumblr on Sunday

afternoon.The annual gathering, which started as a music festival in 1987 and has quickly expanded from there, is now a must-stop for studios and networks. It's been nearly 30 years since we saw Pierce Brosnan play the lead on a TV series, but he's back, and better than ever.

The 63-year-old actor recently sat down for an interview with Emmy, and Et has your exclusive first look at his feature from the magazine's March issue.

In the piece, which hits newsstands March 21, Brosnan gets candid on returning to the small screen as Eli McCullough on AMC's new western drama series, The Son, a type of role he admired as a young boy growing up in Navan, County Meath, Ireland.

"Going to the pictures was a magical delight," he says of watching classic cowboy sagas at local theaters. "The whole mythology of the Western is very much part of my own psyche."

It will be 30 years to the month since Remington Steele went off the air when Pierce Brosnan returns to TV as the star of AMC's western drama The Son, and the former James Bond star says his small-screen comeback was a long time coming.

"I've been looking for something like this for the last four or five years," he told reporters Saturday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. "I really had a yen to go back to TV. I was watching all these great shows appear on the horizon year after year."
