When you see a movie like "Piranha 3Dd," you know what you're getting into. You can expect excessive gore and even more excessive nudity wrapped in a hilariously campy package. Interviewing its star David Hasselhoff is another story.
Between "Knight Rider," "Baywatch" and the tabloids, the man is an icon of epic proportions, as he'll gladly tell you himself. But, regardless of how you see the aging star, he's still filled with ambition, ideas and a shocking amount of energy.
And he's in on the joke.
In the movie, he plays himself, hired to be the celebrity appearance at the opening day of a skeezy water park. Needless to say, he doesn't really want to be there. In reality, he's willing to laugh about similarly embarrassing gigs and, well, just about everything.
Was the humor in "Piranha 3Dd" what made you want to do the movie?

Never mind that the piranha's are on the attack once again in Piranha 3Dd. Who will save us from David Hasselhoff? The former "Baywatch" star and "Knight Rider" actor appears as himself in the sequel to the man-eating fish story as a celebrity lifeguard.
In the Piranha 3Dd movie clip, David Hasselhoff's physique isn't quite up to "Baywatch" standards and the film capitalizes on that by re-enacting the famous slow-motion run from the 80s television show. In his classic red shorts and rescue can, the bare-chested actor runs in slow-mo across the pool to save a boy who doesn't need rescuing.
Red Band Trailer: Piranha 3Dd Doubles Up on the Gore
Besides Hasselhoff, Ving Rhames, Gary Busey, and Christopher Lloyd are other recognizable faces in Piranha 3Dd.

As if starring in this weekend's "Piranha 3Dd" wasn't a clue, David Hasselhoff hasn't stopped dreaming big.
During our exclusive interview for the horror flick, the "Baywatch" icon kept dropping hints about a yet-to-be-announced remake he's hoping to star in: one of the 1939 classic, "Gone With the Wind."
Hasselhoff began our chat expressing that his manager was less than pleased with him for taking the gig in the campy horror film. "He wants me to do a 'Knight Rider' film or Nick Fury, which I was supposed to do, or a remake of 'Gone With the Wind,'" he explained.
Later, after a laundry list of all the "beautiful" women in his life (his daughters, his girlfriend), he shared, "Hopefully the 'Gone With the Wind' will come, hopefully something great will happen."
Needless to say, we had to ask who he might like to see »

Few celebrities have ventured into the dank tunnels of self-parody and emerged into pop culture consciousness more well-loved by audiences than David Hasselhoff — well, next to William Shatner, of course. The Knight Rider/Bay Watcher/Sponge Bob Man-Boat who, when he isn't scouring the planet for a good cheeseburger or singing the praises of du, has appeared (usually as himself) in more places than we can count.
Oh, there he is again... saving a "ginger" boy from a pool full of blood-thirsty piranhas. The Hoff's latest cameo is in the upcoming ichthyan bloodfest, Piranha 3Dd, which opens in theaters on June 1st. In the clip a disaffected Hasselhoff poses as the celebrity lifeguard for The Big Wet Water Park, red trunks and all, only to find redemption in the frantic cries of a young boy.

John Badham’s high-tech helicopter thriller Blue Thunder rode the crest of a decade obsessed with cool cars and aircraft. Ryan takes a look back…
Back in the 1980s, a company called Sega perfected what it referred to as the Full Body Experience. Less kinky than it sounds, this fusion of Crt television, videogame technology and hydraulic pistons aimed to give amusement arcade visitors a taste of what it might be like to drive a Ferrari Testarossa or motorcycle at breakneck speed or fly a fighter jet through a valley full of enemy aircraft.
For a generation of youths, these machines, with their chunky graphics and even chunkier controls, are the stuff of legend, and the mere mention of their names – Hang On, Out Run, After Burner, Space Harrier, Thunder Blade – is enough to evoke involuntary memories of Proustian proportions.
These half-remembered machines sum up the 80s era of mechanical wish fulfilment. »

Actionfest, the all-action movie film festival in Asheville, Nc, celebrates the movie stuntmen who make movies so awesome. This year Mickey Gilbert and Jack Gill were special honorees for Lifetime Achievement (Gilbert) and Man of Action (Gill) Awards. As they spoke to fans in a panel on Trailblazing Stuntmen, and Gilbert spoke after a screening of the classic The Wild Bunch, Gilbert and Gill revealed the close calls that stuntmen survived making films like Fast Five, Showtime and TV shows like Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard. 1. The Vault driver from Fast Five – When Vin Diesel and Paul Walker pull a bank vault behind their cars, there’s actually a driver steering the vault from inside. “We found out that with the engine running and with...

William Daniels, a winner of two Emmy Awards during his run as St. Elsewhere‘s Dr. Mark Craig, is playing doctor again — in a potentially pivotal episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
In one of the ABC drama’s final episodes of the season, Daniels will play one of the doctors overseeing the medical boards being taken by the Seattle Grace residents.
“it’s actually really hilarious!” Sandra Oh told TVLine of the episode, which was directed by her scene partner Kevin McKidd. “I just shot the entire boards episode with the wonderful William Daniels, who played Cristina’s proctor. It »

"Hasselhoff: The Night Stalker" I dubbed “Baywatch Nights” when it aired its fabulously misguided second (and final) season. The “Baywatch” spin-off with lifeguard David Hasselhoff moonlighting as a Pi abruptly transformed into an “X-Files” wannabe with him battling the paranormal.
The results, as you are about to see, were pure trainwreck TV.
Believe it or not, there really was a time when “Baywatch” was the most watched television program in the entire world. Pamela Anderson’s (ahem) buoyancy transcended language barriers worldwide. The primary reason for the show’s global success was obvious to every red-blooded male except perhaps for producer/star David Hasselhoff. I once heard him in an interview try to claim it was the show’s storytelling that kept people coming back week after week and not because internet porn was still a few years away from being at everyone’s fingertips. Yeah, the storylines... That’s »

David Hasselhoff has jokingly approached Russell Crowe to star alongside him in a big-screen remake of Knight Rider. The 59-year-old former Baywatch actor, who recently visited Australia to take part in the latest series of Celebrity Apprentice, got in touch with Crowe via Twitter to ask him about meeting up next time they are in Sydney. Hasselhoff initially wrote to Crowe on his Twitter page: "What's up? It's The Hoff." Crowe then responded, thanking him for visiting children at a Sydney hospital during his stay. Crowe wrote: "How are you David? Saw that you visited the children's hospital while you were in Sydney. You are a good man, thanks 4 that (sic)." Hasselhoff then suggested that the pair should revive the 1982 TV show as a motion picture, responding: "Thanks mate hope to see you soon! Time for us to (more) »

They may not be household names like their A-list colleagues, but the actors on this list have appeared in some of our all-time favourite geek movies...
Some actors dabble in sci-fi; others dip their toe into fantasy; some may even make an appearance in the odd horror film - all before returning to the safety of the genres in which they feel more comfortable - perhaps a nice, award-chasing period drama, or a well-paid romantic comedy.
A-listers may see the geeky films that we on this site enjoy and celebrate as fun little side-projects, but there are actors out there who commit full-time to these types of movies. It is high time, therefore, that we credited these individuals with the recognition they deserve.
Besides the stipulation that, in order to be included, an actor had to still be alive and working today, there were no strict criteria that had to »

To the Douchemobile! MediaTakeout reported today that The Situation’s personalized Bentley has allegedly been repossessed, a tragedy that they claim to have the reader photos to prove. How do we know that the Jersey Shore star’s ride didn’t just pull a Knight Rider and escape with the help of her friend the tow truck, though? Someone get David Hasselhoff on the phone! We need his expertise!
Whether it’s getting sued over Twitter promotions, filing a lawsuit against Abercrombie & Fitch or being forcibly (and hilariously!) removed from the Apple Store, there is no amount of trouble the Situation could get into that would truly shock us. That being said, according to TMZ, the Sitch’s car was allegedly being taken in for a tune-up, not to be crushed into an Axe-scented cube by the IRS. Besides, if the Situation’s car was actually being repossessed, wouldn’t »

"I didn't know you could become legendary by getting the crabs."
Before you think the worst, David Hasselhoff is reflecting on the latest honour to be received by this most multi-faceted of our cultural heroes - having a newly-discovered crab named after him by scientists, by virtue of the crustacean's unlikely broad and fluffy chest. And The Hoff is loving it:
"I have a Guinness Book of World Records entry as the most watched person on television, now I have a new entry as the only man who has a crab named after him. My daughter sent me a photo of the Hoff Crab - I think it’s very funny, very cool and endearing."
This is only the latest episode in the unique career of David Hasselhoff, with his enduring global success and celebrity. He's a massive pop star in his ancestral Germany, and has been taken truly to British hearts, »
