Trivia:
During the the song 'Saara Zamaana', the light bulb outfit went on and off via a switch which was firmly placed in Amitabh Bachchan's hand. He had to press the switch on-off in tune with the beat of the song. The mastermind behind this idea of the outfit was Amitabh Bachchan himself. moreSoundtrack:

Rakesh Kumar after craps like KHOON PASINA(77) and MR.NATWARLAL(79) gave a nice film YAARANA
The film brought Amitabh and Amjad for the first time together as friends in a film, otherwise mostly Amjad played bad man whenever acted with Amitabh or a good man but Amitabh's father( Laawaris and Suhaag)
The film starts off okay but gets momentum when Amitabh lands to the city, before that the scenes between Amitabh and Amjad in the village are funny
The scene where Amitabh makes a ruckus for going in the lift(wasn't dubbed cos Amitabh couldn't lip sync well because he spoke too fast) is a highlight
Amitabh's change to stardom which leads to Amjad's problems are well handled
The entire track of Amjad kidnapped and then in the mental hospital are well handled
The climax though filmy is good enough
Rakesh Kumar handles the film well Music is a winner, SAARA ZAMAANA, CHUKAR MERE MANN KO, TERE JAISA are wonderful
Amitabh excelled in his act of a village bumpkin who turns into a star His performance is simple, he played a villager earlier in ADAALAT and many film and he does it well here too His dramatics and comedy too is superb Amjad Khan excels in his role Neetu Singh is alright, this is one of her last films Jeevan hams as usual, Ranjeet is okay Tanuja is good, Kader Khan is likable
