In the scene where Sarah is in the back of the crowd at the train station, trying to listen to Vice President Fairbanks, a small 50-star American flag can be seen to the right of her. The 50-star flag was not official until 4 July 1960.
Charles W. Fairbanks was not the Vice President of the United States when he was running with Theodore Roosevelt in 1904. He was a Senator from Indiana and was chosen as Roosevelt's running mate that year. Roosevelt was Vice President when he succeeded to the presidency upon William McKinley's assassination and he had no Vice President for his first term of office.
The newsreel lists an assassination attempt against President Theodore Roosevelt, presumably in 1904 when he was the incumbent running for a full term. The attempt on his life actually occurred in 1912 when, as a former president, he ran for the office again as the candidate of The Progressive Party.
