Search finally over!!!, 21 March 2000
Author: supremeallah7 from Chicago, Illinois

I have been looking for this film for 13 years and I finally found it. As a child my older brothers used to tell me about this film and I was frightened silly, also because I could never find it in any video stores I doubted its existance. Well I recently bought an ex rental and let me tell you, this was one of the lamest damn films I every witnessed. I'm happy to own this "rare" out of print psudo classic but I thought it would be much scarier than it was. The only thing that makes me flinch is the music. But enough about my search for Madman, let's get to the plot.

A) We have a summer camp. (Original idea) B) Ghost stories by the fire. (Yet another) C) A killer that used to frequent the area and the only way you conjure him up is to say his name out loud. (Pre-Candyman?) D) One guy does, people die, now you have your classic horror film.

The lack of orininality shows in this film and that is probably the reason it got buried under it famous counterpart Friday the 13th. The same cha cha cha sound is featured in the background of this film. Also Madman didn't look like a madman he looked like a beast which is cool for this genre of film but to make him look like a deformed killer, which he was, would have made it scarier. Plus it took to long to develop. I understand that films of the early '80's are a lot different from today's "murdered in the first 30 seconds" style but the tail end disco/love song and lengthy dialogue killed more people watching the film with me than Madman did in the film itself. But the very good thing about owning this film though is the fact that so few people heard of it let alone saw it so I feel unique in having something everyone can't have. Sadly I would have to give Joe Giannone's one and only film a raspberry for its corniness, but would still encourage people to check it out if they can get it. I almost forgot to mention, this beauty also featured a theme song which was rare if not nonexistant with horror films. Beware of the Madman Marz!!!
