Cricket bat signed by Indian film Stars including Srk, Priyanka, and more to be auctioned off for Children in Need at UK Bollywood auction!

A cricket bat signed by 32 Indian film legends such as Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra is to go under the hammer on Friday 29 November at the Westbury Gallery, Westbury Hotel, Mayfair. The bat has been donated by BBC Asian Network presenter Tommy Sandhu, with all the proceeds from the sale going to the charity, Children in Need.

The auction – organised by Conferro Auctions – features Vintage Bollywood Memorabilia such as original LPs, film banners and Bollywood posters from some of the milestones of Indian film history, including Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Sholay (1975), which were recently voted the top two greatest Bollywood films of all time.

Children in Need provides grants to projects in the UK which help children and young people who are disadvantaged. They aim to empower and extend their life choices to make a real difference to the lives of children all across the UK.

Well, that's the question that everybody seems to be asking about the Sajid Khan's hit film Housefull that's all set to have its worldwide television premiere on August 29, 2010. When the film was released in theatres earlier this year, it had the remix version of the yesteryear's famous track 'Apni Toh Jaise Taise' (from the late Prakash Mehra's hit film Laawaris), which later on became the reason for a controversy that's dodging the film till today. Prakash Mehra's son, Puneet Mehra, objected to the usage of the song in Housefull saying the producers had not taken rights for the same. Farah Khan's hard work at making Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Ritesh Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandes get the dance moves right in Filmistan Studios three weeks ago might just go down the drain.The Calcutta High Court on Friday restrained producer Sajid Nadiadwala from the cinematic use of the remixed version of the song Apni toh jaise taise, from the late Prakash Mehra's 1981 blockbuster Laawaris, in his new film Housefull. According to Mehra's sons, the remixed version from Housefull, directed by Sajid Khan, has to be deleted by Sunday.Nadiadwala's counsel had earlier stated that they had bought the rights from music company Saregama India Ltd, which claimed to have the rights to the Laawaris songs. Mehra's sons Punit and Amit, who had filed a suit before the court claiming that the right to the lyrics remained with them since their fat her wrote the song, are in a jubilant mood.

Prakash Mehra, director and producer of classic Hindi movies of the 70s and 80s like Zanjeer, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Laawaris, Namak Halal, Hera Pheri and many more passed away due to multiple organ failures here in Mumbai on May 17th 2009. The legendary filmmaker was 69.

Mehra played a major part in shaping Amitabh Bachchan’s career and was partly rsponsible for the immense fan-following the actor commanded. In an interview to a leading newspaper in 2006, on being asked about the relationship he shares with the big Bachchan right now, Mehra said “Why should he keep in touch with me? Is he crazy? Veteran filmmaker Prakash Mehra dead

Mumbai, Veteran Bollywood filmmaker Prakash Mehra died here Sunday morning after a prolonged illness. He was 69. Mehra died of pneumonia and multiple organ failure at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, said family sources. Mehra ventured into filmmaking with 1968 Shashi Kapoor starrrer "Haseena Maan Jayegi" followed by the 1971 hit "Mela", which had Feroz Khan and Sanjay Khan in lead roles. However, it was Amitabh Bachchan starrer blockbuster hit "Zanjeer" (1973) that not only catapulted him into the big league but also gave the Hindi film industry its 'angry young man'. Notable filmmaker of Bollywood Prakash Mehra passes away. He was 69. He was not in good health for quite sometime and breathed his last on Sunday morning. He was in hospital for several days and finally died of pneumonia and multiple organ failure at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital.
