After all the baby boys born in the UK on 24 March have been killed, Damien realizes that the Nazarene still lives. Father DeCarlo informs Kate that her 12-year old son son Peter (Barnaby Holm) has become an apostle of Damien and that Peter is with him right now. Kate goes to see Damien and, sure enough, Peter is with him. She offers to lead Damien to the Christ child if he will give Peter back to her. Damien agrees but only after she has taken him to the child. She takes him to a deserted abbey where Fr DeCarlo is waiting to stab him with the daggers. As DeCarlo jumps Damien, however, Damien pulls Peter close to him, and it is Peter who is stabbed in the back. Damien knocks down DeCarlo and goes looking for the Nazarene while Kate hugs her dead son. As Damien is calling to Him to come out, Kate sneaks up behind him and plunges one of the daggers into Damien's back. Suddenly, the sky is filled with a blinding white light, and a figure is seen in the sky. "Nazarene," says Damien, "you have won...nothing." Damien then falls to the ground and a postscript is shown saying: "Behold the Lion of Judah! The Messiah, who came first as a child, but returns not as a child, but now as King of Kings, to rule in power and glory forever!" In the final scene, DeCarlo carries Peter's body to Kate, while another postscript appears to say: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away."
