Marvel superhero movies that never got the greenlight

4 September 2014 3:17 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

From rock operas to Wes Craven to Dazzler, here's some Marvel movies that never quite made it...

Recently, we looked at the DC movies that never got the greenlight. We saw hordes of Superman movies which didn’t make it to screen, along with Batman film ideas and whole hosts of other DC heroes whose movies plummeted out of production (You can read that piece here).

On the other side of the superhero cinema fence, we have the seemingly all-encompassing, game-changing Marvel Cinematic Universe at the height of its powers, the X-Men franchise in rude health and the still-fresh memory of Spider-Man’s hasty reboot. You could be forgiven for thinking that not as many Marvel movies have struggled to get made as their DC counterparts.

However, having delved once more into the ancient scrolls of cinema history (still better known as extensive Googling), we can confirm there’s plenty »

Junkfood Cinema: The RetrosBECKtive

25 March 2014 6:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

In this installment of Junkfood Cinema, Cargill and I discuss one of our favorite under-appreciated actors: Michael Beck. For a very brief period of time, Beck was a rising star in Hollywood. His breakout performance in The Warriors placed him firmly on the map, only to see his career stall a mere three years later thanks to the notorious bomb that was Xanadu. Still, during his all-too-short heyday, Beck appeared in some fantastic cult fare including Hal Needham’s Megaforce and the often heralded (at least on this show) Battletruck. We hope you enjoy this retrosBECKtive. You should follow Brian (@Briguysalisbury), Cargill (@Massawyrm), and the show (@Junkfoodcinema). In Honor Of James Franco’s “The Room” Movie, Let’s Recast Other Bad Movies!

11 February 2014 2:24 PM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

This news is tearing me apart! Apparently James Franco is set to produce a movie based on Greg Sestero‘s book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside the Room, a memoir about Sestero’s acting gig in the 2003 cult classic — and touted “worst movie of all time” — The Room. Franco will star in the project too, presumably as The Room‘s director and star Tommy Wiseau, and he’ll be camping it up alongside Seth Rogen and his brother Dave Franco, who will probably play Sestero. Sigh, Dave Franco. Nudity is always a good option for him!

For the hell of it, let’s recast other notoriously bad movies for potential biopics.

Julianne Moore as Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford

Chloe Grace Moretz as Diana Scarwid as Christina Crawford

Now this! This is the remake that Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz were made for. While the »

Chris Harrison blogs 'The Bachelor' episode 5

I have to admit, when I heard we were going to visit Vietnam this season I was a little surprised and more than a little intrigued. Vietnam is a mysterious country that we obviously have a tremendous amount of history with. I was looking forward to seeing for myself what this land and its people had to offer. I’m happy to say that what I found far exceeded any expectations I had. From the moment we landed, the people couldn’t have been more warm and welcoming. Our crew did have a slight problem at the airport trying to bring walkie-talkies into the country, »
