A nude woman walks out of a bathtub and makes out with Jack. Her pubic hair, butt and breasts are shown. She then turns into a naked old woman and starts trying to strangle Jack.

In a bizarre series of shots, a man in a bear costume is shown kneeling before another man in a conspicuous manner.

The movie is more surreal and disturbing than outright violent, but there are some brief violent parts. Very little blood is shown throughout the 144 minute running time.

There is a scene where you see two mangled dead bodies of girls in a corridor surrounded by pools of blood, as well as an axe.

Jack Torrance smashes down doors with an axe while a woman hides ready to defend herself with a knife. She slices his hand with a knife, blood briefly visible.

9 uses of the word 'f--k' and derivatives.

Some uses of the n-word.

Several uses of the phrase 'son of a bitch'.

Some minor religious profanity.

A man smokes and drinks.

A woman smokes cigarettes.

The Shining is often considered one of the most terrifying films ever made. It exchanges cheap jump scares and instead contains much surrealist and bizarre imagery, as well as a very strong sense of dread and suspense and psychological terror. However, there is probably about one full minute total of onscreen blood throughout the 142-minute duration of the film.

In one scene, a small child is riding down the hall on a toy tricycle and sees two girls' ghosts (and then flashbacks of their bloody hacked up corpses).

A naked woman is shown in a bathtub. She then turns into an old, decaying nude corpse. She then creepily laughs, as she tries to catch Jack.
