An All Star Cast Head the Most Popular Grimm Fairy Tale!
8 August 2002 | by (U.S.A) – See all my reviews

The King is unhappy. Though many women have wanted to marry him, the king would not allow it, because they were poor. He seeks advice from the miller who tells him of one beauty, his daughter. He began to spin incredible yarns about how his daughter is very talented in spinning and sewing and embroidering. He even told the king his daughter can spin gold from straw. The king demanded to meet her so the miller brought her to the castle. The king lead them to a room of straw and commanded she spin it into gold or she would die. Then they left her locked in. Pretty heavy! All of a sudden, a little man appeared and said he would spin the straw into gold, for a price, so she gave him her neck ribbon. So by morning the straw was gold. The king was overwhelmed so he took her to a larger room. The little man returned and spun that straw into gold for the miller's daughter's ring. The king took her to the final staw room: the largest of all! The little man agreed to spin the straw into gold IF he could have her first born child when she is to become queen. She agreed and he set to work. The miller's daughter was then queen and the little man showed up again, demanding the child. She couldn't possibly give it up, so since he had a heart, he agreed to give her three days to guess his name, which could prove impossible. The one night, she found his house and overheard his name being Rumpelstiltskin. When they met again, she told him his name and got VERY, VERY spazzed out. But our story came to a happy ending. Very well acted out by Ned Beatty as the king, Shelley Duvall as the miller's daughter, Paul Dooley as the miller, and Herve Villechaize as Rumpelstiltskin! Duvall and Dooley starred together in the Popeye movie. She played Olive Oyl and he was Wimpy. That's also a good movie. So if you can find it, I recommend Rumpelstiltskin!
