The Jazz Singer (1980)
Molly Bell: I'm with Keith Lennox productions. Molly. Molly Bell. That's what they call me. My real name is a lot longer.
Jess Robin: So's mine.
Molly Bell: Belengocavela?
Jess Robin: Rabinovitch?
Molly Bell: Oh. That's not bad.
Molly Bell: Honey what happened? What was that all about?
Jess Robin: When a Jew mourns somebody dead, they tear a piece of their clothing.
Molly Bell: Who's dead?
Jess Robin: [bitterly] I am.
Jess Robin: Hello?
Bubba: So how's my favorite white man?
Jess Robin: Bubba! How's L.A.? You still working on your tan?
Bubba: [laughs] Every day, Jess, every day.
Heckler: No! No everybody! That ain't no brother! That's a white boy!
People in crowd: What?
Heckler: Get off the stage!
Keith Lennox: [to Jess] Thank you. That was, um, very nice. Now why don't you just piss off and take those four clowns with you.
Bubba: Boom boom boom! I want more boom boom boom! I want more boom boom boom!
Molly Bell: [Eddie gets in his Rolls Royce, she pops up from the back] Pretend you don't know me.
Eddie Gibbs: Don't tell me Mr. Wonderful is back?
Molly Bell: And just in time for Zany's Autumn Special in New York.
Eddie Gibbs: Are you kidding? He walked out on Zany last year. The answer is no.
Molly Bell: One song, Eddie, that's all I'm asking.
Eddie Gibbs: No!
Molly Bell: You owe him!
Eddie Gibbs: He took a hike. Who remembers him?
Molly Bell: His album went gold.
Eddie Gibbs: A year ago.
Molly Bell: I'll bet your commission paid for this car?
Eddie Gibbs: Where can I drop you?
Molly Bell: New York.
Eddie Gibbs: Forget it!
Molly Bell: [Pounds the seat] Damn it! You owe him!
Eddie Gibbs: I hate him!
Molly Bell: [With feeling] I love him!
Eddie Gibbs: All right, one number, scale. One song, two and a half minutes.
Molly Bell: Three.
Eddie Gibbs: [Firmly] Two and a half!
Molly Bell: [Mopes] Oh, all right, two and a half.
Eddie Gibbs: [Thinks, then gives in] All right, three.
Molly Bell: Aw, thanks, Eddie.
[Kisses him on the cheek]
Eddie Gibbs: [Blushes] You win. Three and a half.
Molly Bell: Oooooooo, thank you, Eddie!
[Kisses him all over, he tries to shoo her away to no avail]
Jess Robin: Leo, why don't you go ask Tillie to dance?
Leo: I'm resting.
Jess Robin: Just go ask her to dance, please.
Leo: There's no music.
Jess Robin: Leo, please! Go ask Tillie to dance!
Leo: I'll dance.
Jess Robin: [Watching as Keith Lennox does a rock version of "Love on the Rocks"] He's just kidding around, right?
Molly Bell: No, they're doing it for real.
Jess Robin: This song's supposed to be a ballad.
Paul Rossini: That's his style, mister. Made him a millionaire.
Jess Robin: Yeah, but the thing is it's too fast. You can't hear the words.
Paul Rossini: Yeah, that's why we brought you down here. He changed the tempo. You got to change the lyrics.
Keith Lennox: [Yells] Hold it!
[Whistles, then screaming at the top of his lungs]
Keith Lennox: HOLD IT!
[Music stops and the four brothers yank their headsets off in agony]
Keith Lennox: What are you playing? I told you three... how many times... Three times I've told you, it's too slow! Don't you understand, it's too slow. I want it faster, all right? Faster. Da da da da, all right? Boom boom boom boom!
Paul Rossini: We can hear the "boom boom" in here, darling. It really sounds wonderful...
Keith Lennox: [Cuts him off] I don't give a monkey's what you can hear, all right?
Paul Rossini: But we're going to...
Keith Lennox: [Motioning with his hand] Shut it! Just shut it, all right?
Molly Bell: [as Eddie gets in the car, she gets in the front passenger door, then is holding her hand in her jacket pocket like she's concealing a handgun] Pretend you don't know me.
Eddie Gibbs: [Seeing her concealed hand] I don't. Look, take my wallet. Just leave me my credit cards.
[She lunges slightly]
Eddie Gibbs: Okay, you can have the credit cards.
Molly Bell: Turn on the radio.
Molly Bell: Turn on the radio.
Molly Bell: Louder. Louder, c'mon.
[He turns it up, then firmly]
Molly Bell: Now you listen, and you listen good.
[She pulls her concealed hand out of her pocket to reveal a cassette tape, which she puts in the stereo. They spend the next 30 seconds or so listening to Jess's rendition of "Love on the Rocks". She sees that Eddie seems to be enjoying the song]
Molly Bell: Well? What do you think?
Eddie Gibbs: He's good.
Molly Bell: [Stunned] Good? He's terrific!
Eddie Gibbs: H-he's terrific. Who is he?
Molly Bell: Zane Gray's new opening act.
Eddie Gibbs: Are you kidding me?
[Ejects the tape and gives it back to her]
Eddie Gibbs: I can't book someone from a tape. I have to see him in front of an audience. Here, take your tape and out.
Molly Bell: But he...
Eddie Gibbs: OUT!
Molly Bell: But...
Eddie Gibbs: [Reaches over to open the passenger door and practically shove her out] Open the door. C'mon out! Now close the door behind you.
[Tries to say something through the window]
Eddie Gibbs: Go. GO!
[Eddie takes off, leaving her feeling dejected]
