Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Captain Blythe says he is wearing a replica of the uniform Lord Nelson wore when he defeated the Spanish Armada. Although the Battle of Trafalgar Bay (1805) is chiefly remembered as a battle between the British and the French, the Spanish fleet was also involved. The combined French-Spanish fleet took a severe beating from the British Navy (which had very few casualties, though Nelson himself was mortally wounded by a French sniper), so technically Nelson did defeat a Spanish Armada.See more »
Aunt Louise:But Captain, how can a car release a boy with a key? Explain that.
Captain Blythe:I can't explain that anymore than I can explain the Bermuda Triangle, madam. Nor do I intend to try.
Aunt Louise:Captain, I am the sponsor of that little car. It's going to win the Brazil Gran Permio.
Captain Blythe:If you can bring that off, madam, I will not only part the Red Sea, I will tint it magenta!
Aunt Louise:Oh, but, Captain, I appeal to you as a woman. A desperate, helpless, single woman.
[Know Captain's feelings]
Aunt Louise:Spare that car.
Captain Blythe:Lorelei and all of her sirens could not make me veer one degree. My course is set!
Aunt Louise:Oh.
Captain Blythe:Ship's company. Stand to, to witness punishment.

Disappointing, 29 July 2003
Author: theninja from NSW, Australia

I love Herbie - it's hard not to. However I can recognise how the four movies gradually get worse. This was the worst one. Now I'm not saying it was terrible, and I don't agree with a comment above that says "make the kids watch something else", but it was a disappointing effort.

The Love Bug is by far the best, closely followed by Herbie Rides Again. Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo is OK, but Bananas is not very good at all. If you're not a fan of Herbie movies, you won't like this.
