One of the tag-lines for this movie said: "Life wasn't meant to be easy . . . But it wasn't meant to be this HARD!". The first part of this blurb, "Life wasn't meant to be easy", referred to a very famous statement made by the then Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Fraser. The statement had been made as some kind of explanation of life's hard times and became the phrase most associated with Fraser. The line is actually a quotation from the play 'Back to Methuselah' by George Bernard Shaw. It reads: "Life is not meant to be easy, my child; but take courage: it can be delightful". A later Australian Prime Minister, Paul Keating, would make a similarly famous statement: "The recession we had to have".
