Utterly fantastic miniseries. Unfortunately, the VHS links to US and Canada Amazon sites are NOT to this miniseries -- careful, you're not buying or searching O/P what you want to. I don't think the miniseries is commercially available.
This miniseries runs together several Arthur Schnitzler short stories, by making the fictional Dr. Graesler, the "hero" of one of the stories, into the participant observer of the rest of the -- as if he were reporting on other of his patients. The tone and production values of the series are excellent - all in all, the episodes focus on the characters' dilemmas rather than taking the cheap "Vienna 1900" approach to Austrian decadence.
If anyone cares, the theme music is Johann Strauss, Jr., "Waldmeister" Overture.
