Storyline

Following in the footsteps of "Real People" (1979), this show took a look at the more unusual sides of nature, medicine and human endeavor. Segments ranged from the uplifting (young people overcoming severe handicaps to lead normal lives) to the unexplainable (a park ranger who had been hit by lightning over 7 times) to the simply stupid (a stuntman jumping a motorcycle over the spinning rotors of 3 helicopters). Popularized the phrase "don't try this at home." Written by Jean-Marc Rocher <rocher@fiberbit.net>

User Reviews

an incredible show
30 June 2002 | by (Germany) – See all my reviews

I loved this show as a kid because of the wide variety of stories they handled on it. There was something on it for everyone from the funny to the supernatural. It was always interesting when they talked about hauntings like in one episode where they mentioned that the ghost of Mary Surrat who was hanged for the Lincoln assassination was still haunting the old courthouse where she was sentenced. They had another one about people who claimed that they died and went to hell. There was one line on there that sort of became a joke at the time "Remember this stunt were showing is very dangerous, do not attempt this at home".
