Storyline

Thomas Magnum is employed on the Hawaiian estate of a wealthy absentee owner name Robin Masters. The estate is run by Jonathan Higgins who mostly tolerates Magnum's presence as head of security on the estate. Magnum is also a private detective whose cases frequently have a humorous overtone and always just enough danger. Written by S.E. Cook <secook@u.washington.edu>

Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: [voiceover] Hawaii is one of those places that keeps topping itself - just when you think you'll never see a sunset as beautiful, there comes a sunrise that even Gauguin can only imagine. It kind of makes unemployment easier to take.
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: Magnum...

Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: Oh, Magnum.
Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: Hi, Higgins, Di.
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: I have a proposition for you, Magnum.
Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: Now wait a minute, just wait a second, Higgins. Now this is really getting depressing, this constant deal making - I'll give you this if you give me that,...

more than a t.v. show
27 October 1999 | by (trieste) – See all my reviews

Why do I like this t.v. show? First of all Tom selleck is not an actor, he is Magnum P.I. (unforgettable the episode where is lost in the ocean and risked to be eaten by jaws) Second point: Higgins is a perfect characterization of british irony. Third: Hawaii. Fourth: Ferrari. Is that enough?
