Ridley Scott Says Harrison Ford Will Likely Appear In 'Blade Runner' Sequel, But Won't Be The Focus

27 May 2012 7:40 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It's a Ridley Scott-packed weekend. The filmmaker's secretive, kinda "Alien"-related film, "Prometheus," is right around the corner and the buzz and promotion are at an all time high. That film's star, Noomi Rapace, is on the cover of the New York Times magazine this weekend (with some spoilers along to boot), and as an extra added incentive to see the film in theaters (like you need one), Fox and The Weinstein Company evidently plan to put the trailer for Quentin Taratino's "Django Unchained" in front of it when it opens on June 8th.

But the 74-year-old director is already looking towards the future. His next film, "The Counselor," starring Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz, shoots later this year (Fassbender has to deal with "Twelve Years A Slave" first which begins in late June in New Orleans), and potentially percolating after that -- »

'80's action star revival calendar fills up for early 2013; plus a new villain for Die Hard

9 May 2012 4:25 AM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

It looks like 2013 may be the new 1988 as three of the biggest action stars of the Reagan era are set to release three new films in early 2013, starting on January 18, 2013 with Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand, from director Kim Ji-Woon (I Saw The Devil). After that, we have just gotten word that Sylvester Stallone's Bullet To The Head, from director Walter Hill (The Warriors) will bow on February 1, 2013.  Originally slated to be released this year, the film underwent some »

Sly Stallone's Bullet Heads to February 2013

8 May 2012 | Comingsoon.net | See recent Comingsoon.net news »

Sylvester Stallone's action-thriller Bullet to the Head (formerly "Headshot"), directed by the legendary Walter Hill ( The Warriors , 48 Hours ) was supposed to come out this year, last month in fact, but it was then mysteriously removed from the release schedule by Warner Bros. a couple months back. It looks like the studio has found a new release date and it's February 1, 2013, going up against Summit Entertainment's zombie romance Warm Bodies . This also means that Stallone will have a movie just two weeks after and two weeks before movies by his co-stars of the upcoming The Expendables 2 , since Arnold Schwarzenegger's own thriller The Last Stand comes out on January 18, and then Bruce Willis' fifth excursion as Detective John McClane in A Good Day to Die Hard »

Film Review: Goofy ‘The Fp’ is Geared For Manic Midnight Movie Goers

22 March 2012 1:41 PM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Rating: 3.5/5.0

Chicago – “The Fp,” playing in midnight shows this weekend at Music Box and in various arthouse theaters around the country, is a hard movie to put your finger on. Is it just bad like “Birdemic” or “The Room” or is it something “trying” to be bad? Is it a spoof of bad movies or just a bad movie? Does it matter? Either way, “The Fp” works for its audience, a rowdy crowd of midnight movie fans willing to put up with over-the-top silliness, bad performances, and general lunacy. It’s essentially an extended short film that doesn’t even justify its short running time but audiences on its wavelength will eat it up.

One has to give the team behind “The Fp” major credit for sticking to their ridiculous vision from first frame to last. Their movie is totally goofy and I don’t mean that as insulting as it may sound. »

This Week on Stage: Mike Daisey controversy, Andrew Garfield and Phillip Seymour Hoffman take on Arthur Miller

17 March 2012 10:50 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The season is revving up, there’s only 85 days left until the Tonys, and one of the most anticipated plays of the spring, Death of a Salesman, just opened—but the stage news that had everyone talking this week was the revelation that monologist Mike Daisey had fabricated parts of his off-Broadway hit The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs. Yet, there were also good things going on: David Strathairn joined Jessica Chastain in next season’s The Heiress, Universal hired Downton Abbey’s Julian Fellowes to adapt another big screen Gypsy, and Val Kilmer announced he will play »

Luther from 'The Warriors' plays the dad in the Broadway musical 'Once'

17 March 2012 5:00 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

If you’re planning to see the Broadway adaptation of Once (which opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Mar. 18), I’ve already spoiled something for you: the moment when you say to yourself, “Oh my God, that’s the bad guy from The Warriors up on stage.” Yep, the man who said the oft-quoted “Warriors, come out to play-ay” is in a musical—singing, dancing, strumming the mandolin (Once’s cast is also its orchestra) and play-ay-ing the father of the guitar-playing hero.

For David Patrick Kelly, rocking a mandolin on Broadway is actually the most natural thing in the world. »

SXSW 2012: The Fp Review

16 March 2012 1:04 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Is Walter Hill’s The Warriors too “serious” for you?  Feel that there simply aren’t enough rhythm-based video games represented on film?  Do you like ridiculous mohawks, blinged-out grills, bizarre slang terminology,  and Rocky movies, especially if all those things are happening at the same time?  Do futuristic sci-fi films blow your skirt up?  Well, buddy, have I got the movie for you.  Jason and Brandon Trost’s The Fp—which debuted at last year’s SXSW Film Festival—is finally arriving in arthouse theaters this week, and with its arrival comes to the chance to see one of the strangest, funniest, most balls-out gonzo indie films of the past decade.  Wanna know more?  Read on for my review, after the jump… What does one call the Trost Bros’ The Fp?  It’s such an amalgamation of genres, such a everything-but-the-kitchen-sink sorta film, that it gleefully defies simple classification. »

Sylvester Stallone not re-editing Walter Hill's 'Bullet to the Head'

6 March 2012 2:02 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

All is well in Stallone-land. Internet rumors suggesting unrest in the post-production phase of Warner Bros.' upcoming "Bullet to the Head," starring Sylvester Stallone and directed by action maestro Walter Hill ("The Warriors" and "48 Hours"), have turned out to be false. While it was previously reported that Stallone was unhappy with Hill's cut and was re-editing the action film -- which seemed to make sense, as the film's April release was recently postponed -- Warner Bros. revealed otherwise. "Contrary to recent inaccurate and unfounded reports that Sylvester Stallone had taken over the editing of "Bullet to the Head," director Walter Hill »

Update on Bullet To The Head: Sylvester Stallone and Director Walter Hill “In Perfect Sync” On Edits

5 March 2012 6:59 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

We recently brought you word that Warner Bros. had erased Sylvester Stallone's Bullet to the Head from their release schedule so that Sly could oversee the presumed final cut of the film. It turns out that the reports were unfounded, as a studio response today has put to rest any rumors of apparent unease within the project. The press release includes a statement from director Walter Hill (The Warriors) himself, assuring fans that the film is running smoothly and he and Stallone are on the same page. He also reports that they're finishing up shoots on Bullet to the Head, a story that follows a New Orleans hitman (Stallone) and an NYPD detective (Sung Kang) who team up to track down the men who killed their respective partners. That should come as good news to Hill and Stallone fans, as Bullet to the Head sounds like it should be »

Sylvester Stallone Will Reportedly Recut 'Bullet To The Head' Himself For A November Release

5 March 2012 3:26 PM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

So, who knows better how to cut a film: Walter Hill (the man behind "The Warriors" and "48 Hours" but who hasn't made a decent movie since the '90s) or Sylvester Stallone (who is currently trying to make '80s movie schlock a revamped genre)? Well, while arguments can be made for both sides, at least when it comes to "Bullet To The Head," there is one clear winner.

According to Twitch, Sylvester Stallone will be overseeing a new/final cut of the film, thought it's not clear why Hill's work was not approved. As you might remember, the action pic was taken off the calendar by the studio from its original April 13th date. The plan now is release the film in November, though nothing is official just yet (IMDb has December 2012 listed, so perhaps there's something to this).

Hopefully we'll find out eventually what caused the film be held up for more tinkering, »

Watch the First 10 Minutes of The Fp - The Warriors Meets Dance Dance Revolution

5 March 2012 8:00 AM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Last month we showed you a red-band trailer for a hilariously gritty gang warfare film called The Fp. The movie is set in "a near post-apocalyptic future, and centers on two rival neon-clad gangs raging an underground turf war for dominance of Fraizer Park (“The Fp”) in the deadly arena of “Beat-Beat Revelation” – a competitive dance-fight video game." It sounds absolutely ridiculous, but it's something I would watch because it's such an interestesting, different, and over-the-top concept that I think I might enjoy it.

Check out this synopsis:

Sylvester Stallone Will Completely Re-Cut Bullet To The Head, Taking Over From Walter Hill

5 March 2012 6:59 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

When Sylvester Stallone's upcoming action thriller Bullet to the Head was suddenly pulled from its scheduled April release date and thrown into the nebulous abyss that is "Tba," it definitely seemed like a cause for alarm. After all, the movie had already begun its promotional campaign by releasing images, and with The Expendables 2 coming this summer, Stallone seemed perfectly positioned to have two hits in a single year-- especially with The Warriors and 48 Hours director Walter Hill handling things behind the screen. If you assumed that something was going terribly wrong behind the scenes on Bullet to the Head, you were right-- but apparently it might be Hill himself who's the problem. Twich reports that Stallone is now personally overseeing a new cut of the film, and that a November release date is looking possible. The fact that the movie now has an actual plan for release is good, »

Stallone’s Bullet To The Head taken off release schedule

4 March 2012 11:44 PM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Upcoming Sylvester Stallone film Bullet To The Head has had its April release cancelled, it seems...

Ah, a bit of bad news here. We’ve been looking forward to this April’s Bullet To The Head, the new Sylvester Stallone action movie that’s not The Expendables sequel. The fact that Walter Hill – 48 Hrs, Streets Of Fire, The Warriors, Red Heat – was directing was a major factor in that.

However, it turns out that the film has now been removed from the Warner Bros release schedule, and won’t be arriving in April at all. The reason? Well, it seems that Sylvester Stallone is overseeing a new cut of the film, which is the reason for the delay. How involved Walter Hill remains is unclear.

It's going to add quite a delay. The film is now rumoured to be scheduled for a November release instead. Bah.

Over/Under: ‘The Maltese Falcon’ vs. ‘Repo Man’

28 February 2012 9:26 AM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

John Huston’s 1941 detective tale The Maltese Falcon gets credit for a lot of things. Not the least of which is the launching of both Huston’s career and the career of its star, Humphrey Bogart. It also gets credit for beginning the longstanding and successful onscreen pairing of Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet, and heck, more often than not it’s pointed to as the beginning of the entire film noir movement of the 40s. That’s a lot of acclaim for a pretty simple mystery story about a salty detective named Sam Spade trying to find the whereabouts of a statue shaped like a bird. The late 70s and early 80s were a time when genre films were king. Not only were the titans of the industry, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, tearing up the box office with huge event franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but lots of other directors were getting in »
