A typical suburban teen and his friends start their own pirate radio station from the back of a van and become an underground cult hit...John Ireland plays an F.C.C. investigator Hell-bent on pulling the plug, frustrated that he's being outsmarted at every turn.
A very modest production, but still great nostalgic fun for anyone who grew up during the 1970s...contains some super classic rock tunes from Ted Nugent and Rod Stewart. PUMP UP THE VOLUME(1990), a far more "polished" film which starred Christian Slater, had many similar ideas in play, and could almost be seen as a loose remake of CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT.
This film, now forgotten by most, is worth a look regardless of its impoverished origins, and could likely attract a small cult following if it becomes more easily available.
