'Sunnyside' up for alphabet net

24 December 2003 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

ABC is looking to enroll in Camp Sunnyside in the summer. The project from writer Scott Lew, producer Matt Gross and Touchstone TV is being developed as a potential 13-episode limited series to air in the summer or fall. In the spirit of Meatballs and Little Darlings, Camp Sunnyside chronicles the stay of three siblings at a summer camp from the point of view of one of them, a 12-year-old boy. Lew is writing the project, which has received a script commitment from the network, and is executive producing with Gross. The deal reunites Lew with Touchstone TV and ABC after he developed the drama Floral Drive with American Beauty producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen in 2001. Lew next directs his first feature, the indie Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas, from his own script. That coming-of-age comedy is produced by the Chris and Paul Weitz and Lloyd Segan. Lew, whose credits also include the feature documentary The Velvet Hammer, is repped by Principato-Young, WMA and attorney Warren Dern. »
