The film is explicitly set in 1863; Custer was busy leading Michigan cavalrymen at the Battle of Gettysburg, over a thousand miles East of Kansas, in mid-summer.
At the end of the credits a passage from the poem HORATIUS was included.
"And how can man die better
than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods."
The movie used Colt 1873 revolvers during the Civil War in 1865.
Actor, Robert Davi, who played the Bond villain Franz Zanchez in the Bond movie Licence to Kill (1989), starred in a film called The Legend of the Golden Gun (1979), a title which is similar to the Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) - they both feature the words ''golden gun'' in their titles.
