  • Continuity: When Navin fills up the tank of the lowrider's car, he leaves the hose in the car and leaves. When he returns, the hose has been replaced back on the gas pump.

  • Continuity: When Navin first receives the glasses from Stan Fox, the part of the glasses that hook around the ears have almost no hook to them. After Navin installs the nose bridge handle (the opti-grab), the glasses have normal ear hooks.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Navin and Marie are singing the song on the beach, Navin's hand strumming the ukulele is not synchronized with the audio track.

  • Continuity: When Navin is being pursued by the sniper at the gas station, the sniper fills up the car's rear end with bullet holes. Later, after Navin escapes in the car without rear tires, there are no bullet holes visible on the car's rear end.

  • Revealing mistakes: Navin opens his door and throws popcorn in the face of the Private Investigator, right after the popcorn bounces off the face the PI spits a mouthful out. The PI never opened his mouth prior to the throw.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The lawsuit awards $10 million to 9,987,653 plaintiffs (Mr. Carl Reiner and 9,987,652 other plaintiffs), which would be less than $1.01 each, but Navin makes out checks for $1.09 each.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Navin is chasing Billy on the train, Navin's voice is not synchronized with the audio.

  • Continuity: The telephone is visible and off the hook when Navin runs toward the garage to call in the stolen credit card.

  • Crew or equipment visible: During Catlin Adams stunt where she falls off the bike after going through the flaming wall, the wire used to snag her off the bike is obviously visible during her ride towards the wall.

  • Errors in geography: As the camera pans out at the end of the movie, the California mountains are clearly visible in the "Mississippi" background.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the family picks Navin up at the end of the movie, his family is driving a car with California tags even though they are from Mississippi.

  • Continuity: When Navin is talking to the credit card thieves, you see some small bills ($1 bills) on the bottom of the pile closest to the driver and larger bills closest to Navin, but when the angle switches to over Navin's you see the bills closest to Navin are now large bills ($20s, $10s).

  • Revealing mistakes: When the new phone books arrive, Navin finds his name on a right-hand page in the phone book. However, when the madman randomly chooses a name to be his victim, he points to Navin's name on a left-hand page.
