Riverdale Season 1 Blu-Ray Release Date And Extras Revealed

22 May 2017 11:51 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Although it isn’t an exact mirror of what’s to be found in the pages of Archie Comics’ various periodicals, Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti and the rest of the folks over at The CW once again found the winning formula for comic book adaptations on the small screen with the critically acclaimed Riverdale.

Aside from boasting live action versions of Archie Andrews (Kj Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) that each looked like they leapt from a comic book, Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) was slightly reimagined yet felt as though he became the voice of young intellectual misfits, allowing the product to have an authentic feel.

But even with a stellar cast, the writing has to be there in order to make an unfolding series work. In addition to the high school drama aspects that remain a tried and true formula for prime time television, »

‘Kedi’: How a Documentary About Turkish Street Cats Became a Surprise Box Office Hit

11 April 2017 11:39 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

There are no recognizable stars in Ceyda Torun’s “Kedi,” no marquee names, no box office heavy hitters. There aren’t even that many humans – instead, the documentary focuses on a cross-section of feral cats that roam Istanbul, where they are lovingly looked after by various members of the community, a unique bond that Torun’s film charmingly portrays.

Now in its ninth week in release, “Kedi” has made over $2.2 million at the box office, making it Oscilloscope’s second highest-grossing film of all-time (and coming up close on the heels of their number one, the 2012 doc “Samsara,” which made $2.67 million during its own run). It’s also the third highest-grossing foreign-language documentary of all time (behind “Babies” and “Pina”). Not bad for an indie doc about feral felines.

Bolstered by stellar reviews – the film currently holds a 97% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes – and strong word of mouth, the film has »

Jungle Gyms in Movie Theaters Are Dumb

27 March 2017 6:52 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

A little perspective from a parent.Look! It’s just what every multiplex needs: a playground for the boring moments in any movie.

A couple weeks ago, Film Twitter was lit aflame anew, but not by the latest potentially overhyped festival release or the fallout from last month’s Oscars. No, what raised folks’ ire this time was an announcement of a new kind of innovation offered by a Mexico-based movie theater chain, Cinepolis. There are already a slew of options intended to lure audiences away from their living room into the theater, from dine-in possibilities at chains like Alamo Drafthouse to reserved seating and extended legroom at the Arclight. Cinepolis went the opposite route of chains like Drafthouse, which try to emphasize the moviegoing experience as opposed to distractions. They now have Cinepolis Junior, which offers a “colorful play area near the screen in front of the seats, a jungle gym, and »
